princesses on ice
As if Kaylee didn't get spoiled enough for her birthday, Grandma also got her tickets to Disney's Princesses on Ice. Since Grandmas wasn't feeling very good, Papa got voted to take her instead. Kaylee of course dressed like Cinderella and Papa reported that every other little girl was dressed as a princess too.
They had front row seats and had a great time. Thanks again Papa and Grandma!!!
Jenye, if you lived here we would've let you take her for sure. I know you'll appreciate these pictures!!!
all dressed up and ready to go
Papa and his date for the evening, we should have made him dress up like Prince Charming
in front of the Arena
waiting for the show to start....so excited!!!
Snow White and the Evil Witch
Intermission...with her crown that came with her "$10 bag of cotton candy" according to Papa.
her favorite parts she said was seeing Cinderella and when Anastasia stuck her tongue out at her.
being in the front row makes the show so much more exciting.
its a good thing my kids aren't spoiled!

pirate teeth
On Friday the girls both had their twice yearly check-ups at the dentist. We've been taking Kaylee every six months since she was 1, but they've never been able to do much since she would scream the whole time. They would always tell us that everything looked great...blah, blah, blah. Anyway, Friday they were finally able to take some x-rays and it turns out she has two cavities. They are both so big that they can't fill them, they have to CAP them. Yup, cap them. And they only do kids caps in silver since they are so tiny. They are on either side on the bottom so of course you'll be able to see them, but thankfully they are in the back.
I was a little frustrated since they have never insisted on getting x-rays before Friday and the dentist said that she's had one of the cavities for at least a year. WHAT??? She never complained about it so we didn't know. He said they were from not flossing, but that we do a good job of brushing. Whoops, my fault. I can barely remember to floss my own teeth, plus remember to brush the girls' teeth too, flossing never really crossed my mind. I give them both floride tablets at night too so I thought I was being good. I feel lousy. Poor Kaylee.
So they are going to cap them when we get home from California. She was really sad at the dentist since he had to spend a long time going over the process (early morning appt., she'll drink happy juice that will make her sleepy, then a little gas, and 10 min. later she'll be good to go) Sounds easy enough right???
Hahahaha, not looking forward to that at all. Beau tried to make her feel better by saying that she'll have cool pirate teeth now. Judging from the picture below not a good example. Maybe if she were missing random teeth then she would look like a pirate. Now she keeps asking how long until she gets her "pirate teeth" on.
Then it was Presley's turn. They just had her lay back on Beau's lap and he took a look at her mouth. He sort of chuckles and says, "Wow, you don't see baby teeth this crooked very often."
Thanks Mr. Dentist. Just what I wanted to hear after Kaylee's teeth issues. We already knew this about Pres though, totally runs in the family unfortunately. Both my Dad and I have super small mouths, or at least I did before two rounds of braces and them yanking 6 teeth out and spreading my mouth apart. It was a LONG process. Guess we have that to look forward too in the next few years. Yipee!
Beau and I both go to the dentist in December....can't wait for that good news!
Except I've never had a cavity, so the bad news is always from Beau's mouth, lucky him.

best buddies
These two can fight like cats and dogs, but they really are best buddies.
Yesterday was our wards Primary Program which always causes a little anxiety for me.
Out of the two programs Kaylee has been in, the first she cried and then just came back down to sit with us and the second one, she lasted for a few minutes and then cried and sat with us again. This year I wasn't going to let that happen.
We practiced her line for weeks:
"I lived with Heavenly Father before I came to Earth." and she knew the songs. I thought we were good to go. Well one thing I didn't prepare for was Presley's reaction to Kaylee going up there. When they asked for all the Primary children to please come to the front, Pres tried to go right up there with her. Once she realized that wasn't going to happen, she had a complete screaming breakdown, complete with yelling "a-yee" at the top of her lungs. It didn't help that Kaylee was also crying so I was standing at the front of everyone trying to convince Kaylee to go up there while Presley is yelling and crying also. Totally embarrassed.
Finally Kaylee went up there, said her line perfectly, and then proceeded to pout for the first few songs or she would distract the little girl next to her and they would end up sitting on the floor until her teacher could get them to both stand up again. Beau had ended up taking Presley out to the foyer since she would stop with the tantrum so I went out towards the end of the program to switch with him, and I guess Kaylee finally sang the last two songs perfectly. So much drama with my girls I tell ya.
After Sacrament meeting was over and I brought Pres back in the the chapel she saw her sister and ran to her and gave her a big hug. It was pretty cute and it was hard to stay mad. But seriously, Kaylee did it all for show. She loves attention and is NOT shy. Yikes we are in big trouble. I should have just brought Pres up and sat on the stage too, but that probably would've been a disaster as too. Oh well, at least we have another year until the next program.

today.....
was a good day. We've been on the worst sleep schedule ever. Since Beau doesn't have school yet and doesn't work until the evening, we've been staying up super late, which makes for tired parents in the morning. So last night I decided to go to bed at 10:30 and except for a little wake up by Kaylee, I slept until 8:30 when the girls' got up. With all my new energy I took K with me to the gym, got the oil changed, took K on a picnic lunch to the park and then to her doctor's appointment. We came home, played outside, went for a walk, had dinner and now we're all exhausted. Amazing what you can accomplish when you've had some sleep.
so lucky that I get to live here:
went for a ride in my new rad stroller, yup I just said rad...but it really is rad!
played a little hopscotch
nothing better than laying in bed and reading a good book...
just like her Momma loves to do

our growing girl
Today Kaylee had her 5 year check-up.
Her stats are:
36.0 pounds = 23rd percentile
40.55 inches = 14th percentile
I don't think we've seen numbers this good in a long time. She's even gained 4 pounds since February...hooray for Kaylee.
You can see how much she has changed and grown over the past couple of years.

butterflies
For Kaylee's birthday Beau's Mom and her husband bought her a "Butterfly Bungalow"
It came with a tent (behind K) and then a form that you send in to the company and they send you back caterpillars. We had two little containers full of them and we were able to watch them go through the process of changing into a butterfly. Very cool gift. They hatched about a week ago and Kaylee spends a lot of time sitting in the tent with them.

family pictures 2009
My friend Jill recently started her own photography business. She took some pictures of our family a couple weeks ago and I think they turned out really cute. I HATE having my picture taken, but I know that I will be happy that I have these memories. Jill is so fun and came to our house to do the pictures which was wonderful. It was a chilly day so when we got cold or the girls got grumpy we could just go inside. If you are looking for a photographer and you live in Utah, Jill is great. Click on her name at the top for her website. Thanks again Jill!!!
P.S Have you ever tried Picnik?
AMAZING
I love it. I'm obsessed and have been playing around with our pictures for hours.
so so fun!!!

We Miss our Friends....and our Tans!
When I uploaded pictures from my Mom's camera I found a bunch that she took during our last week in Florida. We sure miss our friends, swimming everyday and those great tans we had!!! Now we're back to pasty. Sure wish we still lived just a few steps apart.
She looks a little confused

On Our Way to Disneyland
Thankfully Kaylee only knew for a week that we were going to Disneyland, because that's all she talked about. I have developed a serious fear of flying over the past year, so I was dreading the actual trip to California. It was a little bumpy and at one point I made my Mom come sit by me and hold my hand. Kaylee kept reaching over to hold my other hand and telling me everything is going to be ok. Pretty sad that my 5 year old was comforting her Mommy, but cute at the same time.

Disneyland Day 1
Morning we got up bright and early since we wanted to spend as much time at Disneyland as we could. Since it was Kaylee's birthday she got in free as did the rest of us.
We were so lucky since this made the trip tons cheaper....always a good thing.
Kaylee was a little grumpy, apparently it was her birthday and she'll cry if she wants too.
We had to wait awhile to get into the park and we were all a little hungry which doesn't help things in this family. But after some brunch and a little talking to, things were much better.
Weekends at Disneyland are CRAZY!!!! So many people. Thankfully the lines really weren't too bad. We were there for about 8 hours total that day. We were lucky that Dad was about to join us that day too since it was a weekend. He works so hard and it was nice to be able to spend some time with him.
I hadn't been to Disneyland in over 11 years so I was really excited to go especially with Kaylee for her first time. It really is a magically place. Although the last time I went everything seemed so much bigger. I couldn't believe how small the Castle was. I guess that's the fun of being a kid there.

patiently waiting at the hotel
with her special birthday button
all day everyone would stop her and say "Happy Birthday Kaylee!"
she thought that was pretty cool!
Disneyland was all decorated for Halloween
everyone I've talked to said this is the best time to go, I have to agree!!!

Day 2 and Our Adventures Getting Home
Day 2 was much more relaxed, less people, the lines were shorter, but a lot hotter too....like 94 degrees! But after a Summer in Florida, 94 degrees without humidity is nothing.
We decided to head over to Frontier Land and get to the rides we missed the day before first. We did Pirates of the Caribbean (again) and then the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain twice (Kaylee's favorite ride) and a few other smaller rides in that area. We ended up spending most of the day there.

the second time we went on Splash Mountain I tricked Kaylee into
sitting where I sat the last time (and got seriously soaked)
this is when she figured out what I did.
I could not get wet again, my pants were still sticking to
me at this point, not a good look!
after almost 2 hours in line we got to meet a few princesses
(yes, 2 hours but totally worth it)
meeting Belle
Kaylee was thrilled that they sang to her and gave her come ice cream
We tried to come home on Tuesday, but due to a dust storm in Phoenix
(where we were flying home through)
we ended up spending almost 7 hours in the airport
including 2 on the airplane before the offered people the chance to get off.
I jumped at that, with my fear of flying and all, I wanted off.
So after a $40 cab ride back to the hotel, we tried again the next day and finally made it home!

trunk or treat
Last night we drove down to our friend's house and went to their trunk-or-treat.
Kaylee was really into getting candy as fast as she could so her and her little friend Kennedy ran from car to car. It was pretty funny. Presley was just trying to stay upright in her costume while holding her bag of candy in her hand. She looked so cute!!!!
After the trunk-or-treat we came back up and went to a few of the house's in our neighborhood with Kelsey and Jeremy. When we first got to our friends' house they
weren't there yet so we took advantage of their cute Halloween decorations in their yard and got some pictures of the girls'.
